In case you missed it, we’re excited to remind everyone that the Wantage and Grove NHPT’s youth mentoring scheme officially launched on 1st December 2025! This initiative was created by the Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood Policing Team, who successfully secured the funding to make it possible. We’ve partnered with Sofea, a Didcot-based organisation, to deliver the programme and provide the mentoring support for local young people. The scheme offers one-to-one mentoring for 15–21-year-olds in the Wantage and Grove NHPT area who have come to attention for low-level offences or anti-social behaviour. With a focus on positive diversion, the programme aims to help young people tackle the underlying causes of their behaviour and set them on a better path. Through weekly mentoring sessions, participants will receive support in: ✔ Access to Sofea’s wider programmes ✔ Employment opportunities ✔ Housing assistance ✔ Mental health referrals The programme is designed to provide structure, guidance, and practical support to help young people improve their futures. PC Jeremy Oldroyd, Neighbourhood Officer for Wantage and Grove, commented: "This scheme is about giving young people the chance to turn things around. By addressing the real issues behind their behaviour, we can help them find positive paths forward. It’s a community effort, and we encourage everyone to play a part in making this a success." A spokesperson from SOFEA added: "With mentoring and hands-on work experience, SOFEA and Thames Valley Police are helping young people build confidence, gain real-life skills, and find direction." Eligibility: • Aged 15–21 • Living in the Wantage NHPT area • Would benefit from extra support, stability, or positive direction We’re proud to have secured the funding and to be working alongside Sofea to bring this opportunity to life.
