Theft of power tools |
||
|
Police are appealing for information following a theft from a work van where expensive power tools were stolen. The incident occurred overnight from the 10th-11th of November. The van was parked on the road near to 52 The High Street in Milton Under Wychwood. Officers are urging local residents and businesses to check any CCTV, Ring doorbell or dash-cam footage for suspicious activity around parked vans in your area.
Unfortunately, vans and tools continue to be a target for thieves. Here are some simple but effective steps to help keep your livelihood safe:
At home or on-site:
Why Tool Marking Matters Marking your tools not only helps police identify stolen property and return it to you, but also acts as a strong deterrent to would-be thieves. When thieves see that items are forensically marked or traceable, they’re far less likely to take them. Police forces across the UK regularly recover stolen tools, but often struggle to return them because they’re unmarked and unidentifiable. By taking a few minutes to engrave, label, or register your tools with a national database, you greatly increase the chance of seeing them again if they are recovered. If you’re a tradesperson, your tools are your livelihood—protect them like you’d protect your wallet or keys.
Stay alert, stay secure, and share this message with colleagues and friends in the trade.
