Crime Prevention Advice

Dear Resident

We have seen a rise in reports regarding suspicious behaviour around cars late at night. This is just to inform you and raise awareness and encourage you to take extra security measures where possible. With the darker evenings below are a few preventative measures you could take to keep your vehicle safe and secure

Crime prevention advice which are physical barriers to stop someone driving away with your vehicle.

Steering Wheels Locks - this prevent physical movement of your vehicle, not only do they act as a deterrent but prevents someone from driving off with your vehicle

General Crime Prevention Advice

If you have gates on your property to ensure these are secure and locked. Same if you have a garage that you keep your car in to ensure this is locked and secured

If you live in a gated community ensure no one follows you in without checking they live there by seeing ID e.g. Driving License

Having CCTV acts as a deterrent

Motion censored lights outside your home

Keeping your vehicle locked and where possible in a secure location

No valuables left in vehicle overnight - including no valuables left in the boot of the car

If you vehicle has a tracker strongly advise this to be left on at all times

Secure number plates with tamper resistant screws
