Crime Prevention - Vehicle Related Crime |

Crime Prevention Advisory – Vehicle Related Crime As summer draws to a close and the evenings grow darker, we have observed a rise in reports of vehicle-related thefts, van break-ins, and other suspicious activity. We urge everyone to remain vigilant, as opportunistic criminals continue to seek easy targets.
Vehicle Security Leaving items visible inside your vehicle—regardless of their perceived value—can attract unwanted attention. Even small items such as loose change in the centre console may entice a thief. Beyond the loss of property, such incidents often result in costly vehicle repairs and significant inconvenience.
Work Vans and Tool Protection If you use a van for work, please ensure tools are removed when not in use. This simple step can help prevent theft and protect your livelihood. We also recommend: • Upgrading locks and security systems, particularly on rear and side doors • Parking with doors against a fixed object (e.g., a wall or garage) where possible • Marking tools and recording serial numbers to aid recovery and identification
Keyless Vehicle Theft Keyless car theft remains a concern. To reduce risk: • Always lock and secure your vehicle • Use a Faraday Box or Pouch to store your keys in • Park in well-lit areas whenever possible • Activate alarms and use physical deterrents such as crook locks For further guidance on crime prevention, please visit the Thames Valley Police website, if you think it is an emergency please call 999 or 101 in non emergency situations. Thank you for your continued awareness and cooperation. | ||
