News Update from PCSO Jason Miller

Earlier today Maidenhead Police Neighbourhood Team carried out an Operation in the Town Centre.

The Operation, part of Safer Streets initiative to target ASB and crime in town centres was a success with one man being arrested - wanted on recall to prison.

One modified illegal E- bike capable of speeds near 50kph being ridden around - seized for destruction - rider was also reported and will face a court appearance and £300 fine.

Several people were stop searched by officers resulting in some drugs & paraphernali being seized (slow time enquiries to follow)

We also worked closely with CCTV, local shops and partners.

We will be having more Operations like this going forwards to target ASB and crime.

Not everyone agrees with police seizing illegal E- bikes and E- Scooters. It's a hot topic, these machines used by the wrong individuals have caused many serious accidents and deaths across the UK. It's one of the most complained about issues we recieve in the town centre with lots of shoppers having near misses, it also forms one of our NHPT priorities (chosen by public)

This is why we have regular police operations and seize them, as well as the fact they are illegal to use on public roads.

Most shoppers and businesses were very happy to see us out in force this afternoon.

We have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of vehicle crime offences in Central Maidenhead in recent days,  both were charged with one offence and bailed pending further enquiries for more.

Please don't leave anything inside your vehicles including money, wallets, purses, electrical items, bags, designer clothes, loose change, phones etc.

Also check you have locked your car / van before walking away. !

These offences are on the increase across the whole of Maidenhead as the weather starts to turn.

Stay safe all
