Community Safety Message – Suspicious Activity Alert

Dear Residents,

I hope you all had a pleasant and relaxing Bank Holiday weekend.

I would like to make you aware of some suspicious activity reported to us over the past few days in the Downhead Park and Bolbeck Park areas.

We initially received a report indicating that unknown individuals were seen attempting to open car doors in Downhead Park over the weekend. While no descriptions were initially available, a separate incident occurred yesterday afternoon in Bolbeck Park, where a member of the public observed a young male inside his vehicle, appearing to search through it. The individual is described as a white male, approximately 18–22 years old, wearing an emerald green hoodie and dark jeans. He was seen leaving the area on a small BMX-style bicycle after being noticed.

Fortunately, it appears that no items were stolen in these incidents. However, we would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents of the importance of vehicle security:

Crime Prevention Advice:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even if you’re only leaving it for a short time.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle when unattended, including bags, electronics, and loose change.
  • Avoid leaving items in plain sight, even if they are not valuable.
  • Park in well-lit and busy areas whenever possible.
  • Consider installing motion-activated lighting or CCTV near your driveway.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the police immediately via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
  •

Please share this message with your neighbours and local community groups to help ensure everyone remains vigilant and informed.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Kind regards,
    PC Antony Hurd
