Number plate thefts

We’ve noticed a rise in number plate thefts across the local area. Today, Tuesday 22nd July, number plates have been stolen from vehicles parked up by the primary school and St Mary's Church in Middle Barton.

Thieves often steal plates to use them to commit other crimes, which means you could be wrongly blamed for offences such as parking fines or speeding tickets. This can cause a lot of hassle, as you’ll need to prove that you weren’t the one responsible.

To help protect your vehicle, please follow these tips:

·  Park in well-lit or busy areas whenever possible.

·  Use anti-theft screws to secure your number plates.

·  Check your plates regularly and report any thefts to the police straight away.

·  Avoid leaving your vehicle unattended in isolated spots.
