🚔 Community Update – Unauthorised Encampment Eviction 🚔

Yesterday 19/06, the Wantage and Didcot Neighbourhood Teams responded to an unauthorised encampment off Denchworth Road, Grove.

Due to significant damage caused to the site and concerns over disruption to the local community, a Section 60C order under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 was issued.

📘 What is Section 60C?
Section 60C gives police powers to direct individuals to leave land as soon as reasonably practicable, if they are part of an unauthorised encampment that is causing damage, disruption, or distress.
It is a criminal offence to fail to comply, and it can result in arrest or the seizure of vehicles.

Although the encampment briefly moved to another local site, a further Section 60C was authorised for the new location, allowing officers to continue enforcement action. As a result, the group has now left the area entirely.

We’d like to thank the community for their ongoing support and patience throughout this incident.
