Dear Resident
The neighbourhood team at Windsor have seized another illegal E-Bike in Windsor today. The bike was not road legal and breached the pedal assisted regulations.
In the UK, an electric bike must meet the following criteria; The motor must have a maximum continuous rated power output of 250 watts. The bike must have pedals that can propel it. The motor must cut off assistance at 15.5mph or 25 km/h. The bike must display the manufacturer's details, power output and either battery voltage or maximum speed.
If the electric bike exceeds these limits, it is classified as a moped or motorcycle, requiring registration, insurance, a driving licence and a helmet.
