Dear resident 

I am writing this message to anyone who was wondering why there were several police around Maidenhead Mosque, Holmanleaze on Friday. 

The Mosque asked Thames Valley Police for our help with a police presence during Fridays Eid festival. 

This was to help reassure the community following the incident outside the location on the previous Friday. 

The investigation is still ongoing and two people remain in prison on remand.  

During Fridays special day hundreds of people of all ages attending the Eid gatherings, held over 4 hourly sesssions thanked us for being there, it was a really nice family atmosphere. 

We were positioned around the area to meet and greet approximately 2000 attendees, answer any questions or concerns raised and to make sure there were no further issues. 

The day passed peacefully.

What happened 2 weeks ago was an isolated incident involving a few people who were all known to each other. 

We continue to work closely with Mosque leaders and will be carrying out patrols.
