Windsor Street Angels is currently looking for new volunteers to join their amazing team and offer assistance to the weekend night time community of Windsor. The volunteers provide a visible presence on Friday and Saturday nights and conduct patrols of the town centre. They offer assistance to those in need including charging phones, arranging transport home for club goers, administering first aid and providing support to the homeless. Volunteers also run the Safety Hub on Saturday nights from the Windsor Baptist Church and provide sanctuary, safety and a quiet space to anyone who is vulnerable or in need. The role of a Street Angel is one that makes a considerable difference to the town and to the lives of many. It is also lots of fun and incredibly rewarding. Volunteers must be over 18 and will be provided with full training and a Street Angels uniform. Windsor Street Angels is supported by Thames Valley Police and is part of The Alma Beacon charity which also runs Windsor Foodshare and the Windsor Homeless Project. To date Street Angels has helped almost 100,000 people! If you would like to find out more about this initiative and sign up for a taster shift where you can join the team as an observer to see what the role entails then please contact the Windsor Street Angels Coordinator, PCSO David Bullock on david.bullock@thamesvalley.police.uk. |
