Dear TV Alert members interested in Country Watch,
I write to share with you the rural policing bulletin, which focuses specifically on those issues which might be of most interest to you.
Tackling Rural Crime in South Buckinghamshire Rural crime continues to be a significant concern for communities in South Buckinghamshire, but recent successes demonstrate the effectiveness of Proactive Policing and strong Partnerships with Local Landowners and Rural Groups. South Buckinghamshire’s Rural Neighbourhood Teams have been working diligently to combat offences such as poaching, theft, and environmental crime, creating a safer and more secure environment for the region.
Recent Good News Stories In a notable case of collaboration, officers charged two individuals for poaching offences on the Carrington Estate in Little Marlow. This success reflects the dedication of both law enforcement and estate gamekeepers in protecting the rural landscape from illegal activity. Additionally, several Community Protection Warnings have been issued for poaching incidents across the Carrington, Portman, and Hall Barn Estates. These estates have embraced the South Buckinghamshire’s Rural Neighbourhood Teams philosophy, fostering a strong working relationship between Officers and Gamekeepers. The partnerships built with these Estates are a testament to the shared commitment to preserving the rural environment and deterring criminal activity.
Strengthening Rural Engagement Effective communication is at the heart of the fight against rural crime. The Rural WhatsApp groups have been instrumental in fostering collaboration and information sharing among stakeholders. The group is run by the public for you. Two groups, in particular, have seen remarkable engagement: “Mid Chiltern Rural Group”, covering the Risborough and Chepping areas, and “NFU Marlow TVP Group”, which has forged a strong relationship with the rural community. Following the launch of the Chiltern Rural Community Group Whats App Group is now up and running. If you would like to sign up please e-mail Nicole at clerk@pennparishcouncil.gov.uk. There is the Land Watch Whats App group for South Bucks. Tabish from Beaconsfield Parish Council administrates this scheme and if you would like to join please e-mail Projectsupport@beaconsfieldtowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01494 675173. These groups allow rapid sharing of intelligence, updates, and concerns, enabling timely responses and reinforcing the sense of community among rural residents and businesses. Although this not being a place to report crime, information can be shared and patrols allocated from the collaboration within the groups.
Results from Operation GREENBELT September saw the successful execution of Operation GREENBELT, an initiative targeting rural crime. The operation yielded impressive results: These outcomes highlight the broad scope of Rural Crime issues and the effectiveness of targeted, intelligence-led operations in addressing them.
A Unified Approach The successes achieved in South Buckinghamshire are a clear demonstration of the power of partnerships between Police, Landowners, Gamekeepers, and the wider Rural Community. Through initiatives like Operation GREENBELT and engagement via WhatsApp groups, Thames Valley Police continues to build trust and collaboration, ensuring that Rural Areas are well-protected from criminal activity. By maintaining these strong relationships and leveraging community involvement, the South Buckinghamshire Neighbourhood Police Teams are not only addressing the immediate challenges of Rural Crime but also creating a lasting foundation for safer Rural Communities.
Kind Regards,
