Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an incident of affray involving weapons in Oxford. At approximately 7.20pm last Thursday (29/8), a mass altercation took place between a group of males aged between 16 and 25, involving weapons, including possible machetes outside the Premier Shop in Pegasus Road, Oxford. The group who were fighting were all wearing tracksuits and balaclavas or face coverings. Nobody was injured in the altercation and officers have made one arrest, a 32-year-old man from Bexhill-on-Sea in Sussex, on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has since been released under investigation. Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Beth Snowdon of the Priority Crime Team, based at Oxford police station, said: “I am aware that this incident took place in the early evening last Thursday and there were a number of other people present, who were not involved, but would have witnessed what happened. “I would ask any of these people to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police on 101 or by reporting online quoting reference 43240417447. “You can do so in the strictest confidence, or if you do not wish to speak directly with the police, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. “I would also ask anybody who may have been driving in the area and has dash-cam in their vehicles, to please check this and get in touch if it has captured anything that may assist this investigation.” | ||||
