Safe Places scheme rollout in Bicester town centre

Working in partnership, the Bicester Neighbourhood Policing Team, Cherwell Crime Partnership and Cherwell District Council Community Safety Team are delighted to announce that we are expanding the Safe Places National Network to now include locations in Bicester.

Safe Places offer help if someone is anxious, scared or at risk while they are out and about and need support.

There are Safe Place schemes running in Oxfordshire already and examples of locations that have registered as Safe Places are community buildings, churches, libraries, charity shops, charity organisations, cafes, hairdressers, leisure centres, banks, pharmacies and leisure centres, as well as some branches of Boots, the Co-Op, Costa Coffee, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, One Stop and Tesco.

The first Safe Places already established in Bicester town centre are:
🫶 Bicester Toys & Thorntons (Sheep Street)
🫶 Cafe 103 (at The Beacon, Wesley Lane)
🫶 Imagex (Pioneer Square)
🫶 Torino Lounge (Sheep Street)

They can all be identified by the sticker with the Safe Place logo displayed prominently in the front window.

If you would like to involve your business in the scheme, please go to this link and contact the Co-Ordinator for your area: https://orlo.uk/13u5Y

You can find out more about how to support people attending Safe Places who have communication difficulties (eg: nonverbal, learning difficulties, don’t speak English as a first language) by looking at the pictorial resources at this link: https://orlo.uk/zdVOM
